Recessionbites.com loves our burger!

A great mention for our burger! If you have never tried one, you are missing out! We start with a 1/2lb of natural beef and a tasty Brioche roll and go from there! For burger lovers, it doesn't get any better and I will put our burger up against the best and we will be standing tall! Recently I went to the famous Spotted Pig in Manhattan to see what the hype was all about and believe me, our burger knocked there's out in the second round, and I am not talking a TKO, I am talking laying them out!

5 Great Burger Spots in Brooklyn

It’s Friday (finally) and Friday to me says RED MEAT, particularly Burgers. But in this Recession what’s the next best thing to eating one? Recalling all the really incredibly tasty ones you’ve had.

Enter Press 195 which is my absolute favorite burger spot in Park Slope Brooklyn. They usually have a great beer list to compliment the food. My favorite burger is the California Burnin’ and it’s out of this state. It’s a healthy size burger topped with homemade guacamole, homemade salsa, Monterey Jack and jalapenos.

HEY NOW !!! TWO SOLID MENTIONS OF PRESS 195 THIS WEEK ALONE!!!!

Hey Now and greetings to all Press 195 fans! Wanted to post the two latest reviews from this week.

First, from October 10th 2009....

"Press 195 In Bayside, NY Will Impress Beer Lovers"

"At Press 195 you can enjoy a vast selection of sandwiches for every taste. Even the most discriminating eater can find something amongst the dozens of offerings. From the ardent carnivore to vegetarians, it’s all here for you. Press 195 also offers the finest selection of beers on Bell."

The next article is from a great blog entitled Amateur Gourmet. This article appeared just a few days ago on Oct. 21st 2009. Click here to read the entire article, here is an excerpt...

Finally, there's Press, which actually rises above all the other daily dining destinations as a place actually worth your time. They serve excellent pressed sandwiches and my favorite--#17--has just four ingredients: ham, brie, apple and mustard. It's a truly great sandwich and one that I will greatly miss as I bide my time in the barren, foodless West Village. (Kidding!)

PRESS 195 MENTION IN TIME OUT MAGAZINE!!!!

From July 23, 2009

I’m officially obsessed

Outrage IPA

This tap beer at Press 195 is a marvel.

Outrage IPA

Like wrap sandwiches and Frappuccinos, I’ve considered panini a fad that’s endured long past its expiration date. Due to my baseless prejudice, I’ve avoided Press 195 (195 Fifth Ave between Berkeley Pl and Union St, Park Slope, Brooklyn; 718-857-1950) like swine flu, and practically missed out on the best beer I’ve tasted in ages. Following a recent renovation, however, Press 195 started to glow in a gorgeous new light. Near the front door sits a handsome bar featuring inviting window perches overlooking Fifth Avenue, a serene, shaded patio and most importantly, six microbrew taps. I popped in one eve and unexpectedly experienced love at first sip. Yes, I changed my tune on pressed sandwiches (the homemade roasted-pork Cubano was a marvel), but I was more enamored of the beautifully bitter Landin Ales Outrage IPA ($5.50; Mon–Fri 4–7pm $3.50). The limited-release quaff is the brainstorm of relative unknown Kenny Landin, a loyal Press customer at its Bayside, Queens, branch. In his commercial debut, produced in conjunction with upstate New York’s Butternuts brewery, Landin has developed an irresistible caramel-sweet brew with a snappy finish and floral hops that leaves behind a resiny bitterness long after I’ve polished off my pint. At least once weekly I venture to Press, take my customary window seat and order a tangle of Belgian fries and 16 ounces of copper-orange Outrage. Who knew being open-minded could taste this good? Just don’t expect to see me ordering a veggie wrap anytime soon.—Joshua M. Bernstein

24/Seven Blog loves Press 195!

Now that summer is over I can catch up on all the great mentions Press 195 received recently. Here is an excellent write-up in one of Brooklyn's top blogs, 24/Seven from July of 2009.

To quote:
"As for catering and our final word, I will quote from their own verbiage, which I could not state better myself: “Tired of lousy subs, tasteless chicken marsala and flavorless ziti? Experience Press 195 catering.” The next party I give? The food will be coming from this kitchen."

Great Press 195 mention from overseas!

Just got word from my good friend Bobby in London that we were mentioned in the famous paper 'The Guardian." The British author Annabelle Thorpe visits the favorite neighborhood haunts of five clued-up locals for a fascinating new take on a city she thought she knew. Read below for an excerpt or click here for the full article:

Hesu Coue-Wilson

Lives in Park Slope, Brooklyn. She is a journalist and has two children, Helena, seven, and Clementine, three.

Hesu Coue-Wilson and family in New York Hesu Coue-Wilson at Papbubble

The best place to head for on a Saturday morning is the Brooklyn Farmers' Market at Grand Army Plaza; get ridiculously cheap and fresh oysters from the fish folk who come straight from Montauk with the morning's catch.

Press 195 (195 Fifth Avenue; press195.com) is a great spot for lunch (try the squash with chipotle chilli) and ideal for stoking up before a walk through Prospect Park. Walk far enough and you can find sections that feel lost and bucolic and very different from Central Park, where you can never really forget you are in the middle of a vast city. If you fancy a bike ride, it's a great wheel from Grand Army Plaza to Coney Island.

If I'm heading into Manhattan for lunch, Chinatown is always a good bet; Jing Fong (20 Elizabeth St) looks and sounds like a noisy airport lounge but the food is incredible. After that, head to Papabubble (380a Broome St; papabubble.com); it's a candy store where they pound, stretch and cool the candy in front of your eyes.

June 09: Short and Sweet

Nothing ties together great music in the park and good times better than a Press 195 sandwich! The Short and Sweet blog loves to "Pair events with food and drinks in NYC neighborhoods" and pair they did as they feature yours truly along with the David Byrne (Talking Heads)! Below is an excerpt from the article. Click here for the full write-up!

"The theme at Press 195 is pressed comfort food. A sandwich shop with quite the menu, they offer 30 types of delicious sandwiches like the turkey and fontina cheese sandwich with a cranberry and roasted pear chutney on ciabatta ($7.75)"

NY PRESS Mention May 26, 2009

Yes Yes Y'all NY PRESS hooked us up with some kind words when they mentioned us in their Summer 2009 gude. Check it here...

what they say......

Press 195
Park Slope’s eclectic sandwich shop was recently overhauled, with a renewed beer focus (the six taps include local offerings like Keegan’s and new outfit Landin Ales) and roomier confines.

June 16th 2009 New Review!

Hey now, greeting from a humid NYC! Things at Press 195 have been rolling along quite well. The introduction at both stores to new salads, appetizers and burgers have been a huge hit. Yes people are enjoying our 1/2lb burgers on brioche rolls. Not had one yet? Get down and dig in! Scouring the web this week, I came across a solid review on the blog "Namaste, a NYC girl trying to find her zen."

Here is the review:

YUMS What A Salad!

Wow I never gush over a salad but this one deserves the praise. We ordered food from Press 195 which were named "Sandwich Kings of Brooklyn" by the Food Network. We were lucky enough that they opened a second location near us; which is where I always get my Cuban Sandwiches from. Since today is Protein Day, I had to shy away from beloved Cuban and try one of the Salads and I am so lucky that I did. I ordered the Chicken Avocado Salad which was Mixed greens with marinated chicken, crispy bacon, sliced egg, avocado, tomato, onion and a creamy cilantro-lime dressing. I omitted the Cilantro Lime dressing since I am not a fan of Cilantro but asked them to put Chipotle Jalapeno Mayo on the side.

The salad was so full of flavor that I barely had to use the side of dressing but I still did since it is also very good. I am not sure what the chicken was marinated in but it was delicious. They sent two Grilled Bread Rounds which I tried to resist but ended up eating one (oops); it complimented the meal.

The salad was pretty big so I tossed out a lot of the greens but made sure that I picked out all the Avocado first ha

If you are in the NY area, you should definitely check out Press 195; they have a great variety of items on the menu and I am sure you will find something that will make you go back for more.

Quick Reminder!! Bklyn St. Fair, Bayside Backyard Party

Hey Now! Greetings to the Press 195 fan base. This is a quick reminder regarding this weekend. Two big events scheduled for our stores.

In the Press 195 BROOKLYN location, Sunday May 17th (1130am-6pm) is the annual Fabulous Fifth Avenue Street Fair. This is our 8th year participating and like always, we will offer tap beer, our famous Sangria and assorted sandwiches. It is always a great time and a unique street fair. Sure you will have your standard sausages and funnel cakes, but there are many unique food stands and arts and crafts to make it a great event. Please come by and say hello.

At the Press 195 BAYSIDE location, this Sunday May 17th is our 3rd annual Welcome To Summer Backyard Party. As is tradition, the acoustic duo Buttermilk Pancakes, will take to the stage at 4pm. And, the party will once again be sponsored by Butternuts Brewery as we will be offering discounted pints of Outrage Ale and cans of Pork Slap Ale.

We hope to see your faces at either of the events. We thank you for all the support and look forward to seeing you at either Bayside or Park Slope this weekend!

Hey Now! What's up Press 195 fans! Lots of exciting stuff happening in the Press 195 world. At the Park Slope store, we look forward to the annual Fabulous Fifth Avenue Street fair. It's hard to believe but this is our 8th year participating in this great event. As always we will have a tent outside the store serving sangria, beer and sandwiches. Of course, the full menu will be available inside the store and in our newly renovated backyard garden.

Over in Queens at our Bayside location, we are looking forward to our annual Welcome to Summer backyard bash. This year we are being sponsored by our friends at Butternut Brewery and will be offering Outrage ale and Porkslap ale specials all day long. As is tradition, our good friends, the Buttermilk Pancakes, will once again be playing two sets of hell raising acoustic tunes. So mark it on your calendar, get your liver ready, and bring a group of friends and get rowdy!

Current news March 21st 2009

Spring is finally here and there is much happening in the Press 195 world. For both stores, we have re-launched our website www.press195.com with links to several new blogs that we hope will provide much more up to date information for our food, beer, events, etc. And, in our "In the News" blog there is the ability to sign up for e-mail alerts whenever there is news posted. Please take a moment and sign up! Or click here.... Also, with the weather starting to steadily warm, we are almost ready for backyard dining season, and we are all excited for this!

At out Bayside, Queens store there is much to talk about...

First, our St. Patrick's day party here was a big success as there were many laughs between friends, new and old. Our new menu items (burgers, wings, fingers, salads) have been a huge success and there has been much talk about our burger being a contender for best of the block. With much burger competition around here, that made us happy to hear. Beer wise, we are continuing to bring in new specialties every week. Our beer blog is continually updated with whatever is new for the week. The newest on the taps is Kidd Lager from Ft. Collins brewery in Colorado, a twist on the classic Schwarzbier or black beer. Dark but a light body, this is a perfect Spring beer. Finally, we are keeping a close eye on the weather as we are very close to opening our backyard patio and will keep everybody posted at to the opening day.

At our Park Slope, Brooklyn store there is also much to talk about...

We are weeks away from the grand re-opening of the Park Slope store. Every singe thing is done except for the approval from our friends at the Dept. of Buildings and the installation of our gas meter (which can't be done till Dept. Buildings approves us) Yes, it is much bureaucratic nonsense but we will get past it shortly. All our past customers will be shocked when the doors open in mid-April. From the tiled walls and floors to the new kitchen and bar, we are very excited to unveil the 1 year in the making project we call Press 195 version 2.0!! Below are pictures of the construction from last week.

As always, thanks for the continued support. Any questions or comments? Please reach us at press195@yahoo.com

Thanks!
Brian

Park Slope Brooklyn Renovation Update 3/2/09

March 2nd, 2009

Greetings. Hope all are enjoying the winter snow.

As we are now learning more and more, the city govt. agencies are truly threatening to the lively hood of small businesses. Yes, we would be ready to open in two weeks but the Dept. of Buildings are lacking personnel so of course they are behind schedule and have delayed us another two weeks as we await their arrival for the final inspection. We are working around the clock because we want to open as soon as possible.

In good news, we have been approved for our full liquor license so look out for sandwiches and martinis!

We will continue to update the site as soon as new news is available. Any questions, please contact us at press195@yahoo.com

Thanks!

Yet Another Positive Review of Bayside Press 195!

Scrolling through web search engines for Press 195 related articles earlier today, I just came across a great blog article from Spring 2008 in regards to our Bayside location. The blog, entitled Trouvant Machanson, gave us a positive review and really nailed the focus of Press 195....

ahhhh freshness, what we strive for here at Press 195!
"Everything on the menu at Press 195 has a unique touch. The maple pesto spread uses maple syrup from Ashland Farms in Prattsville, NY and their honey jalapeno sauce is made with honey from Traphagen's Honey Farm in Hunter, NY. I love their use of local produce and I feel I can taste the freshness."

thoughts to warm you up on this frigid day....
Imagine sitting in their backyard garden at a picnic table eating all this deliciousness...it's the perfect way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon.
